ADMINISTRATION
The U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) released a proposed rule providing guidance on employer contributions to the Federal government’s tax-deferred investment program for children, commonly referred to as “Trump Accounts.”
The U.S. Institute of Education Sciences (IES) announced the launch of IES’s Fiscal Year 2027 research grant competitions.
CONGRESS
The U.S. Senate passed a continuing resolution to fund Federal agencies through December 11, with some exceptions, before leaving for August recess. The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to return on August 31. The Senate is scheduled to return on September 14.
A group of Senators wrote to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio urging his agency to process international student and scholar visas in time for the beginning of the academic year.
COURTS
A Federal judge in the State of Minnesota dismissed a lawsuit challenging the Trump Administration’s interpretation of Title IX.
A Federal judge in the State of Massachusetts dismissed a lawsuit brought by the Trump Administration against Harvard University, which alleged the university failed to protect Jewish and Israeli students from discrimination.
