ADMINISTRATION
The U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced plans to rescind seven joint guidance documents issued between 2015 and 2023 on Federal nondiscrimination laws.
ED granted the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS) a 12 month extension of their Department recognition as an accreditor despite recommendations from ED staff and the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) to revoke Federal recognition. During this period, NACCAS is restricted from accrediting new institutions.
COURTS
A Federal district court issued a preliminary injunction directing ED to classify Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.) programs of study as professional graduate programs, making students enrolled in these programs eligible for higher Federal student loan limits.
The DOJ dropped its appeals of two judicial decisions invalidating a rule that would have narrowed employer eligibility under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
