CONGRESS

The U.S. Senate, on a 77-18 vote, and the U.S. House of Representatives, on a 314-108 vote, passed a continuing resolution (CR) to extend the current CR expiring on January 19 and February 2 to March 1 and March 8 respectively.

The House passed the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act on a 212-207 vote.

ADMINISTRATION

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) announced an additional $4.9 billion in debt relief for Federal student loan borrowers through fixes made to income-driven repayment (IDR) plans and the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.

SUPREME COURT

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) heard oral arguments in Relentless, Inc., et al., v. U.S. Department of Commerce and Loper Bright Enterprises, et al., v Gina Raimondo, Secretary of Commerce, et al., two cases broadly challenging Federal agency rulemaking authority.
