CONGRESS

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced Sen. Laphonza Butler’s (D-CA) Senate committee assignments and announced that Sen. Krysten Sinema (I-AZ) will be seated on the Senate Appropriations Committee.

The U.S. House of Representatives held votes on Tuesday and Wednesday and Friday to elect a Speaker of the House but has been unable to elect a new Speaker.

Chairwoman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce Virginia Foxx (R-NC) sent a letter to Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su requesting that the U.S. Department of Labor extend the deadline for public comment on its proposed overtime rule.

ADMINISTRATION

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission announced that E-Rate program funds can be used to support Wi-Fi connections on school buses.

The U.S. Department released a blog post on school librarians titled “School Librarians: One of a Student’s Best Resources.”
