HOUSE and SENATE

Congress passed a continuing resolution to keep the Federal government funded through March 11.

ADMINISTRATION

The Department of Education (ED) issued a press release on recently approved borrower defense claims for several institutions of higher education (IHEs).

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced that it is drafting a rule that would allow it to “recover redress for defrauded customers” and seek penalties against for-profit colleges and other entities regarding deceptive or unfair marketing using earnings claims.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau released a bulletin on student loan servicers’ “obligation to halt unlawful conduct regarding borrowers’ eligibility and benefits” for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program Waiver

The National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) will convene February 23-24. The meeting agenda can be found here.
