HOUSE and SENATE

The House passed its Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education (LHHS) appropriations bill as part of a larger package of appropriations bills (H.R. 2740) on a 226 to 203 vote. The measure was combined with the Defense, Energy and Water, and State and Foreign Operations appropriations bills.

ADMINISTRATION

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) released new guidance for the requirements accreditors must meet to have Federal recognition.

ED published its final “Supplement, Not Supplant” guidance.

The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) completed its review of a proposed U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) rule related to apprenticeships, which will soon be released as a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) and be subject to public comment.

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report detailing potential inaccuracies in Federal restraint and seclusion data.
