The Florida School Boards Association, Inc. (FSBA) recently held its Annual Summer Conference, where Principal Alex Nock gave the final day’s keynote address. The event was focused on providing Florida schools with the resources necessary to navigate the educational landscape.

Nock discussed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and what its passage means for school boards, highlighting how ESSA differs from its predecessor, No Child Left Behind. He explained that the changes under the new Act include redesigning school accountability systems, restructuring the State’s allotment of discretionary funding and amending requirements surrounding block grants.
