CONGRESS

House Education and the Workforce Committee Chair Virginia Foxx (R-NC) and Rep. Keith Self (R-TX) wrote a letter to United States Department of Justice Special Counsel Hampton Dellinger encouraging an investigation into whether Education Secretary Miguel Cardona violated the Hatch Act.

ADMINISTRATION

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) announced a framework for its upcoming testing phase for the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The testing phase will start October 1 and ED has stated that the 2025-26 FAFSA will be accessible to all students and contributors by December 1.

ED published a final rule amending the Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR) and associated regulatory provisions in the Federal Register.

COURTS

The U.S. Supreme Court denied the Biden Administration’s emergency request to temporarily reinstate its Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) plan.

The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals blocked the implementation of the Biden Administration’s Title IX rule in the States of Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
