CONGRESS
The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee voted in favor of the nominations of Nasser Paydar, President Joe Biden’s nominee for the role of Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education at the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and LaWanda Toney, President Biden’s nominee to serve as the Assistant Secretary for Communications and Outreach at ED by a 15-7 and 13-9 vote respectively. The nomination of Kalpana Kotagal to be a Member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) tied in the committee by an 11-11 vote.
