HOUSE and SENATE
By a vote of 53-47, the U.S. Senate confirmed Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve as an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court of the United States.
By a 29-21 vote, the House Education and Labor Committee passed the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2022.
The Senate accepted the U.S House of Representatives’ request for a conference on the House-passed America Creating Opportunities for Manufacturing Pre-Eminence in Technology and Economic Strength (COMPETES) ACT and the Senate-passed United States Innovation and Competition Act (USICA). The House and Senate also both named conferees that will represent the respective chambers in the conference. ADMINISTRATION
The Biden Administration announced that it is extending the pause on student loan payments, interest and collections through August 31. The Department of Education’s (ED) statement on the extension also announced that it intends to return all loans presently in default to good standing when repayment begins.
The Biden Administration released a fact sheet on “Building Better School Infrastructure.”
