HOUSE and SENATE 

By a vote of 61-36, the U.S. Senate confirmed Shalanda Young to serve as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). 

By a vote of 27-21, the House Education and Labor Committee approved the School Shooting  Safety and Preparedness Act. 

ADMINISTRATION 

The Biden Administration announced that Historically Black Colleges and Universities that recently received bomb threats are eligible to receive grants under the Project School Emergency Response to Violence (Project SERV) Program. 

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona released a statement on Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 appropriations. 

The U.S Department of Education (ED) is scheduled to conclude work for the Institutional and Programmatic Eligibility negotiated rulemaking committee this week. 

Former U.S. Secretary of Education Lauro Cavazos, who served as Secretary of Education from 1988-1990 under the Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush Administrations, passed away at the age of 95. 

SUPREME COURT 

The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold confirmation hearings for U.S. Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson beginning on March 21.
