PENN HILL GROUP’S WRAP UP – MARCH 14, 2022

HOUSE and SENATE 

The U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate passed the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 omnibus bill, funding the Federal government through the end of the fiscal year. A fact sheet for the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies portion of the bill can be found here. 

The House passed a resolution condemning recent bomb threats targeted at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).  This action followed Senate passage of a similar resolution last Thursday. 

ADMINISTRATION 

The Biden Administration released a State-by-State breakdown of Higher Education Emergency Relief (HEER) fund usage and released a breakdown of the American Rescue Plan’s HBCU investments. 

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona issued a statement on the Florida State Legislature’s Parental Rights in Education Bill. 

The U.S. Department of Education released updated issue papers for the third and final negotiated rulemaking session of the Institutional and Programmatic Eligibility Committee which will take place next week from March 14-March 18.
