HOUSE and SENATE
The U.S. House of Representatives released the text of the America Creating Opportunities for Manufacturing Pre-Eminence in Technology and Economic Strength (America COMPETES) Act, the House counterpart to the U.S. Senate’s United States Innovation and Competition Act (USICA). This legislation is expected to be considered on the House floor the week of January 31.
ADMINISTRATION
U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona gave a speech on his priorities for the U.S. Department of Education (ED).
ED issued a notice detailing the agenda, time and instructions for the virtual National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) meeting from February 23-24.
THE SUPREME COURT
U.S. Supreme Court Justice Steven Breyer announced that he will retire from the Court at the end of the current term.
The Supreme Court announced that it will hear challenges brought against two institutions of higher education related to their affirmative action policies.
EVENTS
