SENATE

The Senate passed S.1177, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) by a vote of 85–12 and President Obama signed the bill into law.

BUDGET

The House and Senate passed a short-term continuing resolution to fund government programs and services until Wednesday, December 16, 2015.
