Penn Hill Group’s Washington Wrap Up – April 27, 2015

A quick look at the news from last week, compiled by Penn Hill Group: 

HOUSE

The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies will hold a subcommittee hearing on April 29 to receive testimony from public and outside witnesses on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 appropriations under the subcommittee’s jurisdiction. The deadline to have submitted a request to testify was March 31.

The House Education and the Workforce Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Training will hold a subcommittee hearing on April 30 on college access and completion for low-income and first-generation students. Witnesses for this hearing have not yet been announced.

BUDGET

Politico reported House and Senate Republicans have reached a tentative agreement on a budget resolution for FY2016.

ADMINISTRATION

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) announced the winners of $12 million in Job ChalleNGe grants to fund job training, work experience and a second chance for teenagers with juvenile court records.
