HOUSE and SENATE

Republicans maintained control of the House with at least 238 seats as well as control of the Senate with at least 51 seats.

25 members of the House and Senate education committees, including the committee chairmen, sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Education (ED) to urge the withdrawal of ED’s proposed supplement not supplant regulation.

ADMINISTRATION

Republican nominee Donald Trump was elected the 45th President of the United States.

The White House released a Fact Sheet on facilitating a smooth transition to the next Administration, which has three key components: preparing for the incoming Administration, ensuring this Administration’s records are appropriately archived, and facilitating the off-boarding of current Administration personnel.

The White House released a Fact Sheet on ensuring veterans have the tools they need to succeed, which includes education benefits, health care, and the resources and assistance necessary to transition back to civilian life.
