The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) held a meeting for members of the State Collaborative on Assessment and Student Standards (SCASS) last week, where Principal Alex Nock spoke. The event was intended to offer information to satisfy the professional development and technical assistance needs of chief State school officers and State educational agencies.

Nock briefed several SCASS groups on the statutory requirements of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) as well as recent U.S. Department of Education regulatory proposals related to ESSA. More specifically, he briefed the Formative Assessment for Students and Teachers (FAST), the Assessing Special Education Students (ASES) and the English Language Learners (ELL) SCASS groups on these topics in relation to their focus.
